But our ancestors didn’t organize, march, bleed, and pray so we could shrug our shoulders now. We must honor their legacy by standing up, by showing up, and by refusing to be quiet when the foundation of our democracy is being chipped away.
That’s why I’m asking you to join me now — not with despair, but with determination.

After the shameful Supreme Court decision that gutted the strongest protection against discrimination in voting secured by the Voting Rights Act of 1965, it's clear that Republicans understand something simple: the more People are allowed to participate fairly in our democracy, the harder it is for them to hold onto power.
I spoke to the New York Times about this and here is what I said: 
Republicans are going to do what they’ve always done — rewrite the rules to their advantage, abuse the law, and disenfranchise every community they can to silence dissent, suppress votes, and take away representation.
