And now, amidst nationwide coverage of structural failure in a Boeing 737 Max, we're seeing the fallout. Between 1998 and 2018, Boeing shelled out over $61 billion on stock buybacks. That's 81.8% of its profits. Last year, Boeing spent over $10,710,000 on lobbying efforts, and $10,640,000 went to air travel lobbying -- the highest amount of spending in the industry. In 2022, they relocated their national headquarters from Chicago to Arlington, VA to be closer to Capitol Hill to lobby more frequently.
