Jason, here's the latest about BSA funding for Alaska's public schools: Thanks to the hard work and unwavering commitment from the Alaska Dems in the State Legislature and community members around the state, the BSA was increased by a historic amount for the first time since 2017! This historic increase to the BSA will help support our schools with critical funding to ensure they have the resources they need to give Alaska children the education they deserve. Republicans in the Alaska State House fought us at every step of the way until they saw it as a political win – but we never stopped fighting. While Alaska Dems were working to support schools, Republicans introduced amendments to expand charter schools and provide tuition subsidies for private institutions. Our public schools are facing a major teacher retention crisis, and we can't afford to let Republicans get a veto-proof supermajority in November and leave our public schools out to dry. Our children deserve better!
