Late last month, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the federal government has the authority to remove Abbott's razor wire border barrier, which has killed at least two migrants (one a toddler) and maimed an untold number. Standing by his own barbaric acts and in defiance of the Supreme Court, Gov. Abbott announced he will ignore the ruling. His lieutenant governor, Dan Patrick, went as far as saying "we are putting up wire… everywhere we can. We will continue. We will not stop. If [the federal government] cuts it, we will replace it." We refuse to become defined by Gov. Abbott's inhumanity. Join us now and sign this petition to demand that Gov. Abbott comply with the ruling of the Supreme Court. Former President Donald Trump exacerbated the issue by calling upon "all willing States" to deploy National Guard troops to Texas, a call he does not have the authority to make. Trump's demands undermine federal authority and exacerbate tensions between state and federal forces. We demand that President Biden must use all available federal authority to ensure Governor Abbott complies with the Supreme Court's ruling. We must uphold the authority of our judicial system and ensure that no state acts above the law. We have a moral duty to protect asylum seekers being hurt or killed as a result of the GOP's power plays.
