| Hi, it's Nacole from the Maine Gun Safety Coalition. On Saturday night, the University of New England placed its Portland campus on lockdown because of a nearby shooting. This incident hits close to home. The man who fired shots was experiencing a mental health crisis. School shootings are precisely the type of incident these laws can prevent. Thankfully, no one was injured in Portland this weekend. But incidents like this are much too common. We're working to make Maine safer by going directly to voters this November to pass an Extreme Risk Protection Order. If we're successful, families, who often know about mental health crises first, can work with law enforcement to prevent a crisis from becoming a gun tragedy. Our work to save lives depends on Mainers like you. We need to raise another $8,500 before the end of this month. Can you contribute today to help us pass this responsible gun law and save lives? Together, we can make a difference. Nacole Palmer Executive Director Maine Gun Safety Coalition |
