| Hi Jason, it's Crossover Day in Virginia! If you're not immersed in the day-to-day work of Richmond, here's what that means: "crossover" is the deadline for bills to pass out of their chamber of origin. Any House bill that hasn't passed the House, or Senate bill that hasn't passed the Senate, won't move forward this session. In other words, today is a significant milestone. It's when we see which ideas have real support and momentum. From day one, I've been focused on a clear priority: lowering costs for Virginia families. That's the foundation of my Affordable Virginia Agenda. And I'm proud to say we are making meaningful progress. So far this session, the House of Delegates and Senate have passed more than half of the proposals that make up our Affordable Virginia Agenda! They've moved legislation to expand access to health care and lower prescription drug costs, reduce heating and energy bills, increase the supply of affordable housing, and make childcare more accessible for working parents. Crossover is not the end of the process. Bills that move forward still need to be reconciled, voted on again, and signed into law. But today's progress sends a clear message: focusing on affordability is the right approach, and it's the one that resonates across our Commonwealth. I ran for Governor to make Virginia more affordable, more competitive, and more responsive to the people who call this Commonwealth home. And as we enter the second half of the session, I'll continue working with members of both parties to move commonsense legislation across the finish line. Thank you for staying engaged and for being part of this work. Abigail Spanberger |
