| FIRST: Governor Kim Reynolds has received numerous ethics complaints, obstructed multiple state audits, and looked the other way as Iowans faced rising costs, the defunding of Iowa's public schools, and inaccessible healthcare. THEN: Republicans in the Iowa legislature moved to take away the Iowa State Auditor's office independence by limiting the kind of information it can access in order to fulfill its duty to the taxpayers and setting up a three-judge panel to debate any disputes before they reach the governor. NOW: The Lt. Governor Chris Cournoyer is running for Iowa State Auditor and has received Reynolds' support. I'm running because Iowans should be able to elect a candidate who represents us, protects Iowa's taxpayers from waste, fraud, and abuse of public funds, and holds our government accountable. I'm Taylor Wettach, the Democratic candidate in this race — and this year is our best opportunity to flip Iowa blue by electing an auditor who tells the truth, follows the money, and never forgets who they work for. There are folks who oppose transparency, who will spend big to try and hold onto seats where they can. So please chip in $5 or more today to help me prepare for any attacks: |
