Jason, I grew up in a working-class family in Allagash. We didn’t always have heat or running water. Sometimes, we relied on food assistance to make ends meet. My dad was a logger out in the woods, and one day he and his fellow loggers had to stand up to a wealthy landowner who was threatening their wages. They weren’t even asking for more money, they just wanted to be paid fairly. “Take the pay cut or go home,” they were told. I’ll never forget that day.
