| Jason, Alaska's education system is facing a major funding crisis, and it cannot be ignored. Gov. Mike Dunleavy vetoed $87 MILLION in funding for our public schools after Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate came together just last year and agreed to invest $175 MILLION into our public schools to support our teachers and students. The Governor's proposed 2024 budget maintains underfunding our public schools as the status quo, and his press conference yesterday was tone-deaf, misleading, contradictory, and out of touch with the needs of Alaskans. He's more focused on sending the Alaska National Guardsmen to Texas than taking care of and supporting our communities here in Alaska. Our public schools have been left underfunded for years, resulting in decreased programs, teacher shortages, and even plans for potential school closures. Supporting our public schools means supporting our children's futures, uplifting Alaska's hard-working families, and strengthening our economy. We can't afford to let Alaska Republicans get a veto-proof supermajority in November and leave our public schools to fend for themselves as our teachers and students continue to struggle. Will you join us in our fight to provide the funding our public schools need by chipping in $10 to help us elect Democrats across the state? |
