Jason,
It’s National Voter Registration Day — and it couldn’t come at a more important time.
Here in the Fighting Fifth, voting history is our history.
My predecessor, the late Congressman John Lewis, spent his life fighting for the right to vote. He marched, organized, and put his own life on the line so we could have our voices heard at the ballot box.
I think about that legacy often, and it’s one I’m committed to protecting.
That’s why I’m asking you today: Make sure you’re registered and ready to vote.
Across the country, we’re seeing efforts that could make it harder for eligible voters to cast their ballots, from voter roll purges to changes and challenges involving mail-in voting.
Because what Republicans really want is to disenfranchise Black voters, erase Black political power, and cheat their way into winning every election. Not on our watch.
Voting is the most powerful way that you can make your voice heard and put a stop to the Republican power grabs. That’s why it’s so important to register.
Make sure to check your registration. And, forward this email to 3 people you know so that we’re all ready to vote on November 3rd.
Thank you for participating in our democracy,
— Congresswoman Nikema Williams
