My decision

I know this might be the first time you’re hearing from me — so I wanted to take a step back and tell you a little bit more about me and why I’m running to be the next Governor of Michigan.

Jason,I know this might be the first time you’re hearing from me — so I wanted to take a step back and tell you a little bit more about me and why I’m running to be the next Governor of Michigan.

Ever since I was a student, I knew I wanted to fight for justice and make a difference. I’m the daughter of two special education teachers. I was raised in a working class family that instilled in me the values of hard work, opportunity, and serving others.
So I always knew I wanted to fight for justice and make a difference.
It’s why I started my career investigating threats to democracy and civil rights.
Then I served as a law clerk to a federal civil rights judge in Detroit, protecting and defending people’s civil rights and freedoms.
Then, as Dean of Wayne State University Law School, I worked to make sure all students could afford their education by freezing tuition and expanding scholarships.
It’s why, as Secretary of State, I’ve fought to make everyday life easier for all Michiganders, secure our elections, and expand voter access.
But I know our work is far from finished. So now, I’m running for Governor to make sure Michigan is a place where everyone – from our kids to our seniors – can stay and thrive.
But Michigan is one of the most competitive states in the country, and the latest polls show this race is going to be extremely close. Winning here won’t be easy… or cheap.
I’m committed to building a campaign built by the people, for the people. While my Republican counterpart has already accepted $6 million from the DeVos family funneled into a shady super PAC, our campaign is building real momentum, and we can’t let it stall. So please, if you can: will you chip in $5 or whatever you can to power our campaign for Michigan and make sure we have the resources to win?
