Jason, This month, billions of people around the world will tune in to watch the FIFA World Cup. And some of those games? They're being played right here in New Jersey. Fans from near and far will be pouring into New Jersey, and all of their flags will be flying side by side with American ones, walking our streets, eating at our local restaurants, and filling our stadium with joy. This is what our district — and America — looks like at its best. But while all of this pride is on full display, this administration threatens to ruin this moment by sending ICE agents into our communities to engage in civil immigration enforcement — ripping families apart and trying to make people who belong here feel like they don't. I want strong security at the World Cup, but that does not mean ICE standing at the gates trying to meet civil immigration quotas. I authored legislation which would prevent this from happening. The World Cup is our opportunity to welcome the world to our district and show off what America stands for. This administration can't take what makes America great from us. But we do have to fight for it.
Onward, Nellie Pou
