Bill has spent much of his life working on the water and in communities across Alaska. As a Bristol Bay commercial fisherman, he has experienced firsthand how closely Alaska's economy, culture, and way of life are connected to healthy salmon runs and the lands and waters that sustain them. Years on the water have given him a close view of changing environmental conditions and the challenges facing fishing families, experiences that have shaped his public opposition to the proposed Pebble Mine and his interest in the long-term future of Bristol Bay's fishery.
I’ve been fortunate to get to know Bill this year and he is one of the kindest and most hopeful people I’ve ever met. He has a real lived experience that connects him to Alaska and he understands that the people we elect should work every day to make life better for families, strengthen our local communities, and find practical solutions to the challenges we face.
Bill had to take a break from the campaign because commercial fishing is how he supports his family, and like every fisherman knows, the season is short and every opening counts. So we need a little extra support reaching our fundraising goal this quarter. Please pitch in any amount you are able by today, June 30th 8pm AKST/midnight ET.
