Today is the 161st anniversary of Juneteenth

Jason, today we celebrate Juneteenth and commemorate the end of Slavery in the United States.

On this day in 1865, Major General Gordon Granger of the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas, and immediately announced that “all slaves are free” and “an absolute equality of personal rights” for Black Americans.

Unfortunately, we still have a long way to go to achieve “absolute equality.” That’s why CBCPAC is proud to be the largest grassroots organization dedicated to building power in Black communities by electing Black Democrats.

But we’ll be frank, Jason: Our opponents are powerful, well-funded, and have rigged the system to maintain the racist status quo. So today, we’re asking for your help.

In honor of Juneteenth, please split $10 between the Congressional Black Caucus PAC and Congresswoman Nikema Williams to support Black Democrats and the fight for equality ➞

Juneteenth symbolizes the assurance of freedom, opportunity, and equality for Black Americans.

But it’s been 161 years since its announcement, and we still have much work to do in the fight for freedom.

While some say that “all lives matter,” the horrific, race-motivated murders of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Rashard Brooks prove that’s just not the case.

Jason, it’s so crucial that we come together to support Black Democrats in Congress who will stand up for our freedom and protect Black lives. Will you split $10 between the Congressional Black Caucus PAC and Congresswoman Nikema Williams to help support Black Americans in Congress?

Our mission has always been to support Black Americans in Congress who champion issues that matter in our communities -- including protecting the right to live and prosper in the “land of the free.”

But racism, bigotry, and white supremacy are flourishing each and every minute in this country.

So we must stand with Black Democrats in Congress as they take on these horrific issues head-on -- or else we’ll see more Black Americans die at the hands of injustice and inequality.

So in honor of Juneteenth, we must step up to protect our freedoms, including our right to live and prosper. Jason, will you step up to support Black Americans in Congress by splitting $10 between the Congressional Black Caucus PAC and Congresswoman Nikema Williams?
