Hi Jason, this is the entire CBCPAC team reaching out. We’ll be quick:
Today is the final deadline to co-sign the petition to protect Black History in schools. And it looks like your signature is still missing.
Republicans are relentlessly attacking the Black community — from ending DEI programs in schools to banning books on the Civil Rights Movement. So we’re building a WAVE of grassroots momentum to fight back.
Please don’t wait another second while the GOP strips away our rights — sign your name before 11:59 PM to keep Black history in schools:
Thanks for all your support,
The team at the Congressional Black Caucus PAC
[*** FORWARDED MESSAGE BELOW ***]
Jason, I’m Black. I’m scared. And I need your help.
The GOP has systemically targeted and discriminated against Black Americans for our nation’s entire history — and now, it’s taking another form.
In 2024 alone, over 10,000 books were outright BANNED in schools across the U.S. More often than not, these books cover Black history and racism in America.
PLUS: Donald Trump is empowering his MAGA Governors to ramp up their censorship of Black history in schools.
But right now, there’s a bill that could protect Black history and end these Republican attacks on the national level. It’s called the Black History is American History Act.
Jason, now more than ever, it’s critical that Congress reintroduces and passes this bill to safeguard the rights of Black Americans and allow children to learn about our nation’s ENTIRE history — including Black history — in schools. Otherwise, Republicans will continue to rip away the rights of Black Americans like me.
So, I’m asking you to join me and 150,000 others in signing our petition to demand that Congress protect Black history at the federal level immediately. The petition closes tomorrow at exactly 10:00 AM. So please don’t wait to add your name:
Jason, here’s exactly what Republicans are trying to do:
- Whitewash and dilute Black history by banning books that cover the Civil Rights Movement and racism in America.
- Prosecute teachers and principals who allow instruction on Black history in schools.
- Defund Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs that aim to increase inclusivity and representation in schools.
These attacks aren’t just happening in states like Florida and Texas. Take a look at the news from Sacramento, California: “African American history museum in Sacramento in jeopardy of closing after losing grant.”
The best way we can fight back is by building grassroots power. That’s why I’m asking you to join me today in signing our petition to pressure Congress to PROTECT Black history under the Trump administration and pass the Black History is American History Act.
Please sign below. We need 155,000 signatures before our strict 10:00 AM deadline tomorrow:
Thanks for reading,
Cara J.
