Jason,

Thirteen years ago today, the Supreme Court looked at the Voting Rights Act — one of the most hard-won achievements in American history — and tore out its enforcement mechanism.

Shelby v. Holder didn't just weaken voting rights protections. It handed states a roadmap for suppression and told them the federal government wouldn't stop them.

This year, the Court went even further. Opened the door wider. And now Republicans across the South are sprinting through it.

Can you donate $10 to help hit my goal to raise $12,000 before June 30 to show we’re ready for the fight ahead?

These aren't abstract legal questions to me. John Lewis was my predecessor. My mentor. My friend. He was beaten bloody on the Edmund Pettus Bridge fighting for the right to vote. Every Supreme Court decision that chips away at that legacy is a direct attack on what he gave his life to build.

They want us to forget Selma. They want us to accept suppression as just the way things are. They want to bury the progress that John Lewis and generations of civil rights leaders bled for.

We are not going to let that happen. Not on my watch.

We have beaten this back before and we will beat it back again — but my most important public filing deadline of the year is less than a week away and I need to show that this campaign is ready for the fight.

Pitch in $10 before June 30 to help me hit my $12,000 goal and prove that this fight is far from over:
