Jason,
We had a HUGE response to our priorities survey from last week – especially from those of you who said you were interested in an assault weapons ban.
Assault weapons have been used in some of the most deadly mass shootings in history, including Pulse, Sandy Hook, and Uvalde but currently there isn’t a federal law regulating them.
For ten years, a bipartisan federal law restricted the sale and manufacture of certain assault weapons. Congress allowed that law to expire in 2004 and has never renewed it, leaving states to protect their own communities.
That’s why we’re acting to gather grassroots support for our assault weapons ban. Would you add your name right now to stand in support of an assault weapons ban here in Maine? ADD YOUR NAME With Congress refusing to act, state law remains one of our strongest tools for preventing gun violence. But passing these protections is only part of the work. We must also defend them from coordinated campaigns designed to dismantle the progress we have fought so hard for.

MGSC
