Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In a moment when the world can feel loud, divided, and uncertain, Dr. King's words still offer clarity. He reminded us that justice is shared, that our lives are bound together, and that progress only comes when we refuse to look away from one another.
For me, Dr. King's message is deeply personal and deeply forward-looking. I grew up Black and Latino. I'm raising my children here in Georgia. And I've seen firsthand how inequity and division can drag down families and communities — whether it's a neighbor without healthcare, a student without resources, or a family struggling to make ends meet.
That's why I chose public service, first in the classroom and on the school board, later in the State Senate, and now in this race for governor. I want Georgia to be a place where every child has access to quality schools, every family has affordable healthcare, and every community has the opportunity to thrive–exactly the kind of justice Dr. King dedicated his life to.
Dr. King taught us that courage is choosing love over fear, that change is built through persistence, and that ordinary people, acting together, can bend the arc of history toward something better. Those ideals guide the work we are doing in this campaign: building a Georgia where dignity, opportunity, and fairness are real for everyone.
On this MLK Day, I hope you'll take a moment to reflect on his teachings and carry them with you. They matter as much now as they ever have.
