I won't sugarcoat it: we knew this could happen. My opponent has spent 26 years as a career politician building connections with corporations and special interests. Those same connections are why the corporate PACs and the MAGA machine are lined up to give him big checks.
Here's what that number does not mean: it does not mean this district is out of reach.
- Our Democratic governor won this exact same district against Derek Schmidt in 2022. Kansans in KS-02 have already shown they'll vote against him.
- We have outraised Schmidt before and can do it again.
