Another Lewiston race that needs your attention

Passing gun safety laws requires electing a gun safety majority, and today we want to spotlight another one of our Gun Safety Champion candidates: Scott Harriman, who is running for re-election to the State House in District 94. HELP US SUPPORT SCOTT → Scott won a special election in February, and now he’s running for re-election to this key Lewiston-area seat. Lewiston is often defined by outsiders by tragedy and hardship, but it is filled with people who are resilient, hard-working, and practical. A city that is proudly community-focused and rich in its diversity, Lewiston and its citizens deserve leaders who focus on problem solving, and Scott is someone who is deeply committed and embedded in his community. Aside from his State House service, he also serves on the Lewiston City Council and Lewiston School Board. Lewiston has seen a devastating increase in preventable gun violence in the last few years. To solve this problem, we need leaders who reject finger-pointing, and who are committed to active, evidence-based approaches to not only respond to the violence after the fact, but address the conditions to prevent it. In fact, in the wake of the 2023 Lewiston mass shootings, Scott actually went to Augusta and testified on behalf of a bill to prevent people in crisis from accessing guns. Scott has been a leader on this issue since before he held public office – and we’re confident that he will continue to lead on gun safety in the State House.
