This week, Black lawmakers, advocates, and leaders from across the country came together for the Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Legislative Conference.
It’s a chance to talk about the issues facing our communities — and, more importantly, what we can actually do about them.
But while we’re focused on making progress, we’re also having to defend the institutions that make that work possible.
Nancy Mace’s resolution could dissolve the Congressional Black Caucus and bar official recognition from any and all race-based caucuses in Congress.
But here’s the truth: Congress is better because these caucuses exist. They give Black lawmakers space to work together, elevate issues affecting our communities, and make sure our voices are heard.
So while Nancy Mace is busy with political stunts, I’m going to keep doing the work.
