The Big Picture

Republicans have complete control of the federal government and they are using it to protect their House majority by any means necessary. Taking back the House is the only way to put a check on this administration and that means holding every competitive seat Democrats have. NY-04 is one of them.

Where Things Stand

  • This district is one of the most competitive in the country. New reporting has named this district one of the top House targets on Long Island, and identified Laura as the most vulnerable first-term Democrat that Republicans are working to unseat.
  • Long Island is trending redder. Republican Bruce Blakeman is running to unseat New York's Democratic governor, and local Republicans have made steady gains across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Republicans believe that shift gives them an opening in NY-04.
  • Trump personally traveled to Nassau County this month to campaign for Laura's opponent. A Republican outside group has pledged $22 million in ad spending across Long Island this fall, on top of tens of millions already spent nationally promoting the GOP's agenda.
  • The GOP have their candidate. Laura's opponent has Trump's endorsement and a place on the NRCC's list of top-priority candidates, putting the full financial weight of the national party behind her campaign.

What’s at Stake

If Republicans flip this seat, they’ll have an even stronger grip on the House and a clearer path to push their extreme agenda. But if we hold it, Democrats are one step closer to taking back the House — and exposing the corruption, chaos, and abuses of power that have defined this Republican Congress.

What Laura Needs

We’re building the infrastructure now to win, but it’s going to take consistent support to stay competitive. The next few months are critical to:

  • Fund our field and voter contact programs
  • Counter GOP attack ads already running in the district
  • Build the resources needed to compete against national Republican spending
