Last week, we held a Guaranteed Healthcare Town Hall in Bakersfield, alongside Congressman Ro Khanna.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, asked questions, and took the time to be part of the conversation. The room filled past capacity. Families stayed long after the program ended to ask us questions.
This is exactly what representation is supposed to look like.
It means showing up. It means listening to people face-to-face, even when the questions are tough. It means being accountable to the people who want to send you to Washington.
Unfortunately, that's something we've been missing in this district.
Our Republican opponent David Valadao hasn't just been hiding from his own voters during this campaign --
he hasn’t held a single public town hall in over a decade. But he did vote for legislation that cuts Medi-Cal for a community where 70% of people rely on it to see a doctor, fill a prescription, or get their kids the care they need.
We're going to keep holding these town halls in every corner of this district, because every community deserves to be heard and every voter deserves a representative who shows up.
